Service Description

With the help of Strategic Dog Sports Owner, Rachel Downs, watch Elissa and border collie puppy, Leo grow in their journey together for the first six months of their budding relationship. The live program portion of this class is complete, but it is not open for self-study at your OWN pace through a Facebook page that you will have unlimited access to. A dozen years into her dog sport journey, Elissa raises her fifth puppy, but this time, she's looking to optimize positively based training protocols, control over reinforcers and stimulus control processes to enhance her relationship with Leo as a pet and sport dog. Elissa will be working to emphasize teaching through systematic successes with the goal to minimize or eliminate 'failures'. Members will be able to watch Elissa and Leo work towards a cooperative relationship of learning and development for both pet and sport foundations. Using the concepts of Positive Reinforcement and Stimulus Control, Elissa will endeavor to learn new methods about working with her puppy to create a positive, enriched learning environment with control over reinforcers for optimal skill building. Topics covered will include all of the elements of life with a puppy, including: Sleep training Potty training Crate training Socialization Off-leash exercise Trick training Sport puppy foundations Injury and rehabilitation And all of this will be accomplished during the busy schedule of Elissa's full-time, non-dog related career, family life and maintaining the enriched lives of Elissa's current dogs. This program will provide value to those who: Want to learn more about positive reinforcement, stimulus control and clear reinforcement criteria in their dog training. Want to know how to fit dog training into life while managing a non-dog related career, family obligations and/or other dogs in the household. Want to know more about raising puppies, for pet and sport. Want to know what it's like to use a mentor for dog training. Want to be able to recognize mistakes in puppy raising and get tips on how to avoid them. Want to know more about using toy and food reinforcers for training. Want inspiration for training with their own puppies. Want a community of peers for puppy raising. Members will be able to access Elissa's training plans, lecture content from Rachel, and observe a mentor/mentee relationship over the course of six months.
