About the event
This workshop is for dogs who are a little too much. The spinning, biting, barking, wide-eyed mess of a dog on your leash ringside is not having a good time (and you probably aren’t either). In a systematic process that includes arousal management, training, welfare considerations, and reinforcement systems, you will learn why your dog gets so worked up and what you can do about it. This workshop is designed for sport dog handlers but the principles apply to any scenario in which emotions get the best of our beloved dogs.Â
This seminar is TWO DAYS of lecture and working sessions with GREAT learning opportunities for both working spots and auditors.Â
The schedule will be:Â
Saturday and Sunday: 9am - 1pm lecture/working, 1-hour break for lunch, 2pm - 6pm lecture/working.Â
Light lunch will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks and beverages. We will have water and tea available.Â
Sarah Stremming is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (through the IAABC). She spends her professional time working complex behavior cases, mentoring colleagues, and presenting on an international level. With nearly two decades in the field of dog behavior and even longer in dog sports, Sarah brings a unique perspective to the challenges handlers can face in both realms.Â
Sarah’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Science degree in psychology from Colorado State University, the Living and Learning with Animals course with Dr Susan Friedman, and over a decade of conference and workshop attendance. Of equal importance, her extensive hands-on experience with dogs and their people in training, sport, veterinary, shelter, boarding, and daycare settings shines through in her teaching.Â
When she is not working you can find her deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest behind two border collies and an Icelandic Sheepdog.
Ticket purchases will be non-refundable within 30 days of the seminar. Refunds requested within 60 days will receive their purchase less $75.Â
